Giving your powder room a makeover doesn't have to be costly. Check out my top six budget-friendly tips and ideas below!

  1. Paint

Never underestimate the power of paint to totally transform a space. Powder rooms in particular are some of the best spaces to play with color. Don't be afraid to go bold in there. If you've been wanting to try out the increasingly popular color drench technique, powder rooms are a great place to experiment. Go with a color that's fun and exciting, or one that brings all the cool, moody vibes. Or, flex your creativity with a painted pattern such as stripes or a stamped design. Not in love with your vanity but not looking to replace it anytime soon? Paint that too!

  1. Peel & Stick Vinyl Floor Tiles

What I've found to be a personal godsend in a few of my DIY home projects are peel and stick vinyl floor tiles. They're very easy to cut and install and can securly cover eyesore flooring. You'll have a brand new floor at a small fraction of the time and cost it'd take to fully replace.

  2. Fixture + Accessory Swap

Lighting, faucets, vanity knobs/pulls, hand and paper towel holders, mirrors, and vent and light switch covers can all be replaced with instant upgrades. Pick out items that better reflect your preferred aesthetic to change the overall style of the room.

  3. Countertop Update

If you're not into your vanity's countertop, you don't have to be stuck with it. Two low-cost ways to update an unwanted countertop include: 1. A concrete countertop application (like this!), and 2. Epoxy paint (like this!).

  1. Wall Treatment

Whether it be wainscoting, board and batten, chair railing, beadboard, or paneling, there are so many guides and kits today that make wall treatment installations easy and doable. Something as simple as adding some trim or boards to at least one of your powder room walls can really elevate its look.

  1. Decor

The easiest of updates - new, fresh decor. Because it's a powder room, you don't need much. Look for some statement art or 2 - 4 frames to display photos on the walls, a rug with a pretty design, a coordinating hand towel, a nice candle, a stylish tissue box cover, and, space permitting, maybe a small potted plant in the corner or branches/stems in a vase on the countertop.

Happy updating!
