Our site's first official blog! Welcome, and thanks for being here.
I recently gave my almost 3-year-old a little room refresh. I've loved watching his space grow with him and getting to periodically reorganize it to keep up with his new milestones and interests. It's definitely come a long way since its days as a sweet baby nursery.
It was super exciting to introduce a "big boy bed" in the room. I found this one on Amazon and loved the wooden details.

I wanted to incorporate a darker color palette to make the room feel less nursery, more big kid. The colors I brought in through different accessories are mustard, olive, and dark brown. I linked a lot of what I used here.
Drumroll... here is the finished look!
For the walls, I love hanging banner pieces like the ones I have above from Imani Kids and Gathre. The painting hung above the bed is actually a mom original (not bad, right?).
I utilized as much cube storage as I could to try and combat the daily messes made in here (hopefully you didn't think this room always looks this tidy). As long as there's a dedicated bin or basket for everything, the evening toy pick up goes much smoother. I like doing a mix of bins and baskets for variety, while sticking to the color palette for cohesion.
When reconfiguring furniture, I discovered a simple nightstand hack that worked perfectly with the new bed. I took the vertical cube shelf that I originally had for diaper storage, turned it horizontally, then voila! An instant nightstand with lots of surface space and room for items down below.

Children's rooms are my absolute favorite to design. It's so fun to play with bold colors, patterns, or themes. It's also so rewarding to give them a space where they can thrive at all stages.
